Week 9: Stakeholder Reflection
The population of individuals whom are immigrants to technology and defiant of its vast advancements are not included in the discussion of Alone Together. The author claims that technology disallows social interaction and its intimate growth between people. By focusing on a teenage-based crowd and older folks who agree with technological benefits, the author over looks the deeper understanding of people who choose not be accustomed to technology. She argues that we are avoiding face-to-face interaction and solidifying our feelings based on responses from strangers over the Web in discussion forums but neglects to make any references towards the individuals whom are able to live with the realities of life around them. There are many people who can find happiness and truth in a purposeful life, and overcome feelings of depression and loneliness without resulting to electronic partnerships. The voices of these people are clearly absent in the book Alone Together allowing the book to offer little contrast to another majority of American society.
